Job Summary

The System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, security, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise IT systems and services. This role ensures high availability, optimal performance, and strong security across both on-premises and cloud infrastructure. The position requires hands-on expertise in Dell server hardware, Proxmox virtualization clusters, and high-availability database environments, while ensuring strict adherence to organizational IT policies and procedures. 

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Server & Infrastructure Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers including AlmaLinux, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian.
  • Manage and support Dell PowerEdge servers, including BIOS, firmware, and Lifecycle Controller updates.
  • Configure and maintain RAID systems using Dell PERC controllers.
  • Utilize iDRAC for remote server management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Administer Proxmox VE virtualization clusters, including high availability (HA), quorum management, node synchronization, and shared storage integration.
  • Monitor hardware health metrics (CPU, memory, disks, fans, power supplies) and proactively resolve hardware issues to prevent downtime.
  • Perform capacity planning and optimize system resources to support business growth and performance requirements.
  • 2. IT Systems & Services Administration
  • Manage and secure virtualization platforms and containerized environments, including Proxmox VE, VMware, and Docker.
  • Administer and optimize web servers such as Apache and Nginx.
  • Manage MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL databases, including clustering, replication, and high-availability configurations.
  • Maintain core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, file servers, and antivirus systems.
  • Administer hosting control panels including Virtualmin and cPanel.
  • Manage and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support DevOps workflows.
  • Implement and oversee backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring data integrity through routine testing and verification.

3. Security & Compliance

  • Enforce secure access controls and authentication policies across all systems and services.
  • Maintain secure credential management using strong password and access policies.
  • Monitor system and security logs to detect, document, and report suspicious activities.
  • Ensure all system operations comply with internal IT policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Protect system confidentiality and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data and infrastructure.

4. Monitoring, Incident & Change Management

  • Continuously monitor system performance and service availability to ensure operational stability.
  • Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and recovery time.
  • Maintain detailed change management documentation for all system modifications.
  • Keep accurate system documentation, case records, and operational logs.

5. Planning & Team Support

  • Develop and execute action plans for infrastructure expansion at head office and branch locations.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior IT staff to maintain service quality and operational standards.


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and Master degree in related field more preferable.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a System Administrator or in a similar infrastructure role.
  • Virtualization: Deep knowledge of Proximo VE (Clustering/HA) and VMware.
  • Database HA: Proven experience configuring Database Clustering and Replication (MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL).
  • Networking: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Firewall configurations, DNS, VLANs, and Switching.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting for automation (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
  • Hardware: Hands-on experience with Dell PowerEdge Servers, NAS Storage, and iDRAC management.
  • Web Services: Experience managing web applications and online services.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Linux: LPIC, RHCE, or CompTIA Linux+
  • Microsoft: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Other: Relevant infrastructure, cloud, or networking certifications (CCNA, etc.)
